About Me

Ryan

Let me introduce myself

💼 Hi, I'm Ryan. I'm a full-stack software engineer, 6 years into building production web applications in both France and Canada. And what I enjoy most hasn't changed: taking a business problem and turning it into something simple that works.

💻 I'm currently the only engineer at Midbec, a home appliance parts distributor, where I'm migrating a 10-year-old PHP 5.6 platform to a Go / Next.js stack, brick by brick, without interrupting the service. I own the technical roadmap, from the first decision to production.

KISS isn't just a principle for me, it's who I am.

How I work

Listen

// Problem before stack

An online store can't simply close while its systems are being replaced. I migrated a home appliance parts distributor's store to a new technology stack, brick by brick, without interrupting its operations.

Learn

// Verify, then build

B2B customers needed to see their own prices before checkout. I connected the online checkout to the company's management system (ERP), and tested how it worked before writing a single line of code.

Apply

// Own what ships

I built Flip, a complete mobile app dedicated to judo, entirely by myself. I handled the data, architecture, infrastructure and deployment. Its App Store release is in progress.

Measure

// Numbers over opinions

I completely rebuilt a high-end Parisian barbershop's website: 15x less JavaScript, a performance score that went from 68 to 94, and 25% more organic traffic.

Where I'm heading

📚 Deepening my expertise in Go → system design → cloud-native engineering

Go is the language that fits my vision and the way I work best: simple, explicit, easy to reason about. That's why I specialized in it: from an e-commerce platform to Flip's API, it became the core of my backend work.

System design is what keeps a system simple as it grows. Cloud-native engineering (AWS, Terraform) is what keeps it reliable in production.
